European auto industry executives recently pointed out that Europe must invest in the development of a new generation of "dry battery" technology to build electric vehicle battery supply industry, catch up with the field leader in China.
Roberto Vavassori, head of the European Federation of Automotive Components Suppliers (CLEPA), said at the London Motor Show that the investment in new generation of batteries is necessary in view of the rising market demand for the battery industry.
However, with the advent of electric vehicles, the battery market demand will also increase significantly. If electric car sales account for 1% of global car sales, then there is an urgent need to build such as Tesla and Panasonic joint super battery factory (Gigafactory) similar to the battery manufacturers.
Vavassori also believes that China is a leader in battery technology in Europe. Therefore, he called on Europe to actively respond to and develop the battery manufacturing industry.
