According to industry sources, the 2018 EV market in China is expected to boost the penetration of automotive lighting LED.
According to the statistics of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2017, Chinese automakers produced a total of 24.81 million passenger cars and 4.21 million commercial vehicles, up 1.58% and 13.81% respectively over the same period of last year. In 2017, the sales volume of passenger cars in China was 24.72 million While that of commercial vehicles was 4.16 million units, an increase of 1.40% and 13.95% respectively year-on-year. In contrast, the sales volume of electric vehicles in 2017 was close to 800,000 units, representing an increase of over 50% over the same period of previous year. It is estimated that the sales volume in 2018 will increase from 1.5 million to 2 million units.
Since the Chinese government has been pushing the sales of electric vehicles for a long time, a large amount of subsidies have been provided to various manufacturers of electric vehicles, accounting for nearly 50-60% of the retail price of vehicles.
The proportion of electric vehicles equipped with LED car lighting is significantly higher than that of fuel cars. The popularity of electric car LED headlights is expected to soar in 2018.
