Recently, Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical’s 110 kV cable insulation demonstration project was officially launched. The project used the high-grade cable insulation independently developed and produced by Yanshan Petrochemical for the first time. This is the first industrial demonstration and application of new domestic high-grade insulation materials, which will accelerate the localization of related materials and change the situation of long-term dependence on imports.



Cable insulating material is an insulating material wrapped around wires and cables. Common cable insulating materials can be used for medium and low voltage cables with voltage levels of 35 kV and below, and high-grade cable insulating materials can be used for high-voltage and ultra-high voltages of 110 kV and above. And UHV cables, suitable for deep sea, aviation and other fields. For a long time, China's high-grade cable insulation materials have mainly relied on imports.

The high-grade cable insulation materials independently developed and produced by Yanshan Petrochemical have high safety performance and long service life, and can meet the performance requirements of 110 kV high-voltage cable insulation materials. In 2016, Yanshan Petrochemical used independent research and development technology to build the first domestic continuous, fully enclosed, and ultra-clean high-grade cable insulation production device. In 2017 and 2020, the products passed the China Electric Power Research Institute and the National Wire and Cable Quality The inspection center and other authoritative inspection institutions test, and have the conditions for industrial application.

At present, Yanshan Petrochemical has an annual production capacity of 25,000 tons of high-grade cable insulation materials, and has established cooperative relations with more than 20 large and medium-sized cable companies. In the next step, Yanshan Petrochemical will continue to develop higher-level cable insulation materials such as 220 kV and 500 kV, and contribute to accelerating the localization of China's high-level cable insulation materials.
