However, as autopilot approaches, the problems it brings are increasing. In the process of speeding up the pace of self-driving cars, we often hear about various traffic accidents. For example, in 2016, the Google Autopilot test vehicle collided with a commercial truck in the United States. Although there were no casualties, the vehicle was seriously damaged and had to resort to the trailer.
 
At the same time, in March 2017, January 2018, and March 2018, traffic accidents occurred in Uber, Ford, and Tesla, all of which caused not only test vehicles and ordinary cars. Damaged, and even casualties. The insecure safety of the road has cast a doubt and concern on the application of self-driving cars.
 
Under such circumstances, in order to accelerate the commercialization of autonomous driving, on the one hand, it is necessary to make breakthroughs and improvements from the technical level. On the other hand, it is necessary to give users the corresponding personal and property security from the perspectives of legal norms and insurance. . But now, although the road test norms and legal systems are constantly improving, the insurance news is rarely revealed.
 
A few days ago, a news released by Changan Automobile let us be a part of it. On June 10, Changan Automobile announced the launch of China's first consumer-oriented auto-driving insurance “Reassuring”, which is responsible for the automatic parking of cars. It is expected to take effect on July 1, 2019, and will be equipped with Changan. Used on models of the car APA automatic parking system.
 
It is understood that this insurance is only applicable to the parking phase and does not cover all automatic driving links. That is to say, only when the Changan autopilot parking system is used for parking, the accidents caused by the system quality problems can be obtained, and the compensation amount ranges from 150,000 yuan to 550,000 yuan.
 
We are a little disappointed to see here. It seems that the road to insurance for autonomous driving is still very long. Changan “parking insurance” can only say that commercial driving of automatic driving insurance has been opened. In fact, since 2017, China has been paying attention to the formulation and implementation of autonomous driving insurance. In December of that year, the China Insurance Association and Baidu jointly held the first seminar on auto-driving auto insurance in China and invited the insurance industry. And many experts from the legal profession came to discuss. Only now, the relevant results have not been translated into practical applications.
 
So why is the safe driving path so hard to go? What is the difficulty it faces? First of all, autonomous driving is still in its infancy. The relevant technologies, automation, and laws are still not mature. There are not many cases about automatic driving applications. How to determine the specific accidents is also uncertain, which makes the insurance difficult. Secondly, the data risk protection between the car, the environment and the people is also one of the important contents of insurance. The lack of data makes this content inaccessible, which is another reason for the difficulty of insurance.
 
All in all, the development of autonomous driving insurance must be based on the development of technology. On the one hand, it cannot lag behind the speed of the autonomous driving industry and technology. On the other hand, it is impossible to drive in the absence of data and necessary preconditions. The development of insurance is a complementary process. Maybe one day, when we see more and more self-driving cars running on the road, autopilot insurance can really come along!
