      The Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiao Yaqing recently stated that new energy vehicles are a very important direction for the development of the global automotive field and a strategic choice for my country's automotive development. The development of new energy vehicles in China is in a period of accelerated development. Now the number of new energy automobile companies is too large, and they are in a small and scattered state. It is necessary to give full play to the role of the market, encourage enterprise mergers and reorganizations to become bigger and stronger, and further increase industrial concentration.

   Globally, new energy vehicles have become a general trend, and most countries in the world have formulated a timetable for banning the sale of fuel vehicles. my country has always attached great importance to the development of new energy vehicles. In 2012, the State Council issued the "Energy-saving and New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2012-2020)", which officially sounded the clarion call to enter new energy. At present, my country's new energy vehicle production and sales volume ranks first in the world for six consecutive years. According to data from the China Automobile Association, from January to August this year, the domestic production and sales of new energy vehicles were 1.813 million and 1.799 million, both increasing nearly twice, showing a good momentum of development.

       However, although my country has achieved a certain first-mover advantage in the field of new energy vehicles, and has also given birth to a world-renowned new energy vehicle company such as BYD, as Xiao Yaqing said, there are also many problems in this industry. The technical level of its products is uneven, there is a lack of star models and international high-end brands, and the homogeneity of products is serious. The entire industry can be said to be large but not strong, and many but not refined. For example, this year's domestic single new energy model sales leader is Wuling Hongguang (parameter 丨 picture) MINI EV, but this is a miniature pure electric car, its technical content and brand awareness are obviously not on the same level as Tesla. New forces such as Weilai and Ideal are making waves in the capital market, but their sales are lacklustre.

  According to data from Tianyan Check, there are about 198 new energy vehicle manufacturing enterprises in my country, 150 of which were registered between 2018 and 2020. If companies such as batteries and parts are included, there are currently more than 332,000 new energy vehicle-related companies registered in China. Such a large scale not only reflects the fiery degree of the current new energy track, but also reflects that the current industry is still in a state of disorderly competition with barbaric growth, and the degree of industrial integration is not high.

   It is particularly noteworthy that in recent years, with the encouragement of national policies, new energy vehicle projects have sprung up everywhere, causing serious overcapacity problems. According to data from the Passenger Federation, the National Development and Reform Commission and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, by the end of 2020, the total production capacity of new energy vehicles in China has reached 26.69 million, and the sales volume of new energy vehicles in 2020 will be 1.36 million, and the company's production capacity is seriously idle. In March 2021, the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission pointed out that in recent years, there have been some illegal construction and production of new energy vehicle projects, and some vehicle companies have low capacity utilization levels or large idle capacity. These problems must be taken seriously and countermeasures must be taken.

   Judging from the experience of developed countries, it is an inevitable trend for the auto industry to go from weak to strong. It is an inevitable trend to integrate resources, eliminate the waste and retain a few strong brands. In the era of fuel vehicles, the United States only retained a few brands such as GM and Ford. If new energy vehicles are to mature, they will certainly follow this rule in the future. Therefore, in the context of the current hot new energy vehicles, we should guide some leading companies to merge and reorganize, speed up the processing of "zombie companies", reduce idle capacity and resource waste, and accelerate the integration of upstream and downstream industrial chains in the industry to build A truly internationally competitive brand has promoted China's transformation from a major country of new energy vehicles to a powerful country of new energy vehicles.

       It is worth mentioning that Evergrande Group and Baoneng Group, both of which have been on the cusp of the recent past, have invested heavily in new energy vehicles and built a large number of production bases in various places, but so far no mass-produced models have come out. It is hard to say that the debt crisis has nothing to do with blind investment in the new energy field. Therefore, promoting the integration of the new energy industry will objectively help avoid similar phenomena from happening again.
