Jiangsu Coastal "Three Transformations and Three Lines" clean energy "main artery", that is, the Jiangsu Coastal Two Channel Project is currently the largest offshore wind power grid-connected power transmission project in China. It includes three 500kV substations in Tonghai, Sheyang and Fenghai and three 500kV substations. The kilovolt double-circuit transmission line has a total length of 703 kilometers. The main body of the Tonghai substation project put into operation is located in Rudong. The project includes a new 500 kV Ji Neng substation, the erection of a 62 km 500 kV transmission line, and the erection of 165 iron towers. Among them, the total land area of the 500 kV Ji Neng Substation is 4.022 hectares, making it the 7th 500 kV substation in Nantong and the 70th 500 kV substation in Jiangsu.
After the project is put into operation, it can provide the Rudong area with a total of about 2 million kilowatts of offshore wind power transmission capacity. With the official commissioning of the 500 kV Ji Neng Substation, the grid-connected commissioning of the three offshore wind farms has also been fully launched. It is expected that on October 4, the Rudong Offshore Converter Station will conduct reverse power transmission. After the full capacity of the three offshore wind farms are connected to the grid, the annual on-grid power can reach 3.3 billion kWh, which is equivalent to replacing 1 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2.51 million tons per year compared with thermal power plants of the same scale.
It is worth mentioning that the 500 kV Ji Neng Substation is the first 500 kV integrated energy substation and the first 500 kV indoor GIS substation in Jiangsu. There are a total of 972 roofs of the 500 kV and 220 kV power distribution equipment buildings in the station. Photovoltaic modules have a total area of 5683 square meters and a total capacity of 526 kilowatts. After photovoltaics are connected to the grid, the annual power generation will be 585,000 kWh, which can be used for “digestion” within the substation. The integrated energy station’s coordinated control system connects to station power to realize low-carbon operation and full development of clean energy, effectively match new energy to station power load, and maximize the effect of integrated energy station’s energy saving and emission reduction." The construction of the integrated energy station will provide a typical example of the use of clean energy that can be replicated and promoted for the subsequent construction of 500 kV substations.
It is reported that since the beginning of this year, the on-grid power of wind power in Rudong has reached 4.2 billion kWh, an increase of 65% year-on-year, and it is expected to reach 6 billion kWh for the whole year. At the same time, 11 offshore wind power projects such as the State Power Investment Corporation, Three Gorges, Jiangsu Communication Control, and Guoxin are also accelerating and are expected to be connected to the grid at full capacity before the end of the year. "The commissioning of the Tonghai 500kV power transmission and transformation project will provide a strong channel support for the large-scale grid connection of Rudong offshore wind power this year, and will also become a strong'backing' for the efficient development and construction of Rudong offshore wind power in the future."
